Saving the Greeks: One Tragedy at a Time

by Jason Pizzarello

directed by Michael Kimmel

In a time of war, heroes are needed. Strong, smart, courageous men whose actions are heralded over centuries in stories of their deeds. Saving the Greeks… is not one of those stories, and Dialysis and Peon are not those kind of men. In an ambitious (and possibly moronic) plan to bring peace to Ancient Greece, Dialysis and Peon create Betterland, a city where once-doomed tragic characters can start a better life. But this new society of refugees must face enemies, Gods and overacting. Weaving together the stories of Ancient Greek characters like Oedipus, Hercules, Cyclops and many others, this smart and hilarious reinvention of the classics asks the questions, "Is it possible to escape your own fate?" and “Did they actually read any of the Greek plays?”
