by Laura Zlatos

directed by Devin Brain

Exposure, a new play by Laura Zlatos, is a world premiere collaboratively devised play inspired by the life and work of photographer Francesca Woodman. Exposure investigates the many frameworks that define our cultural conceptions of the "tortured Artist.” Fueled by Woodman’s ghostly, gritty, yet often playful photography, this piece analyses the mythologies that inform the concept of the “tortured artist.” Much as critics have aggrandized, interpreted, and re-contextualized her work, we have worked to blur the boundaries that separate historical fact, fictionalized story-telling, and artistic product.
