The Roaring Girl

Everyday Inferno Theatre Co. is thrilled to announce an ambitious repertory project that will continue its commitment to presenting exciting new works, under-produced classics, and theatrical events that push the boundaries of subject matter and stagecraft. Transforming the Access Theater Gallery into an immersive space with a distinct nightclub vibe, the two shows will play in rotation for a three-week limited run. The rotating schedule provides ample opportunity for audiences to discover surprising parallels between these very different works. THE ROARING GIRL, a Jacobean city comedy by Thomas Middleton and Thomas Dekker, is a play so shockingly modern that it remains rarely produced to this day. Its heroine, Moll Cutpurse, is a cross-dressing, ass-kicking, whip-smart joker - a wildly fun and complex female character like none you've seen before. This hilariously messy sex comedy takes a hard look at marriage, gender, and fidelity, and finds a lot to laugh about along the way. It's filthy, it's romantic, it's transgressive, and yes (in case you're wondering), there are some seriously awesome sword fights.
