directed by Steven Carl McCasland
The short-lived Broadway musical RAGS returns to the New York stage in a production from Beautiful Soup, featuring a stunning score by two-time Tony Award winner Charles Strouse, lyrics by three-time Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz and an extraordinarily moving book by Fiddler on the Roof librettist Joseph Stein. Chronicling the journey of Rebecca Hershkowitz as she travels to America to find her husband a better life for her and her son David, RAGS is the heart-warming story of a group of immigrants finding their way in a brave new world. Beautiful Soup has been listed in Time Out Magazine's Top 20, and been called "clever", "inventive" and "resourceful". The company has aided a number of charitable organizations, like GLSEN, Gay Men's Health Crisis, BC/EFA and more! After only four performances, RAGS closed and drifted off into Broadway obscurity. This incredible yet forgotten musical will return for 14 performances only in a new staging by Steven Carl McCasland. Collective member Anna Kirkland will star as Rebecca. She will be joined by Barnaby Edwards as Ben, Erin Elizabeth Eichhorn as Bella, Linda Wielkotz as Rachel, Andrew Dorph as Avram, Kenneth Kyle Martinez as Saul, Christopher Leidenfrost as Nathan and Jeremiah Burch III as David with Dan Cake, Salvatore Casto, Emma Brock, Dana Feinberg, Joris De Graaf, Morgan DeTogne, Lily Drexler, Harmony McGivey, Samantha Mercado, David Speer, Amanda Szymczak and Jeff Van Damme.
