The Average-Sized Mermaid

by Jessica Fleitman

directed by Kara-Lynn Vaeni

In THE AVERAGE-SIZED MERMAID, kindergarten teacher Miriam Moselle loses it in front of her class the day after she’s dumped by her erous fiance. After possibly traumatizing the six-year-olds indefinitely with a tirade about male chauvinism in “The Little Mermaid,” Miriam inexplicably turns into a mermaid herself. When her unusual situation attracts media attention, Miriam decides to use her newfound fame to get back at her ex. But she soon discovers that there are bigger fish to fry. Can she stretch her 15 minutes long enough to address the deep questions: will she find her voice, will she find herself, and will she ever fall in love again?
