Emily, An Amethyst Remembrance

by Chris Cragin

directed by Steve Day

By the time she was 30, Emily Dickinson had so isolated herself from the world that she never left the house and rarely accepted visitors. Many have hypothesized madness, scorned love, or secret homosexuality. This play looks at the different events and relationships in Emily's life, and presents these as possible pieces to the puzzle. It offers Emily's poetic voice as a glimpse of her true self, her passionate spirituality, vigorous intellect, courageous sense of humor, and wounded heart
