Elephants on Parade 2009
directed by Tom Costello
Elephants on Parade 2009 is a continuation of the one act festival which launched EBE Ensemble in 2006. The five plays in this year’s festival, three of which are world-premieres, were chosen from nearly three-hundred submissions from across the country. In John Aldous’ Presidential Roulette, directed by Tom Costello, four former U.S. presidents are forced into a game of life and death and begin to crumble under the pressure. Alfred John Heekin’s FourPlay, directed by Montgomery Sutton, desperation, passion, and deception erupt in the lives of two young couples whose disparate relationships begin to intersect. Ira Gamerman’s Dated: A Cautionary Tale for Facebook Users, directed by Josh Luria, recounts the hilarious, pathetic, and sometimes heart-wrenching details of what it is like to have a break-up in the age of Facebook and Myspace. John Prescod directs Matthew Paul Olmos’ The Bus That Got Cut Over Its Eye, where four ne’er do well bus riders take a journey of existential and class warfare. In Nico Vreeland’s The Interview, directed by Eric Alba, a job interview becomes an interrogation and two men discover that life is not easily mastered.
