Arts Administration Internships
GENERAL MANAGEMENT Assist the Executive Directors with scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating the technical and artistic aspects of our high-profile special events.

Interns also assist in providing administrative support to technical and artistic departments during production.

An exciting opportunity to get a well-rounded experience working in theater arts administration, company management, artistic relations, event planning and technical theater production.

Candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with a wide range of people; be organized, efficient, personable, respectful, self-motivators with effective written and oral communication skills; must work well in a fast-paced setting and are able to multi-task.

SOCIAL MEDIA – Support social media campaign; help develop social media strategy; actively contribute to our Twitter, Facebook, Blog, Youtube and Newsletter channels promoting the Foundation and our largest program – the New York Innovative Theatre Awards.

Ideal for candidates interested in social media, branding, or marketing management.

Daily access to email and social media outlets required, as is occasional attendance at media planning meetings. Ideal candidates have social media skills and the ability to communicate within the organization’s style.

GRAPHIC DESIGN – Assist in the design and production of programs, flyers, brochures, and posters, promoting the Innovative Theatre Foundation and our largest program, the New York Innovative Theatre Awards.

Ideal for candidates interested in design, branding, or marketing. Graphic design skills and experience with Adobe Creative Suite are required.

Applicants must have access to Adobe Creative Suite, internet, and email. Genuine enthusiasm for the New York Independent Theater / Off-Off-Broadway community and creative design vision a plus.

WEB DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT – Assist with the design and/or development and maintenance of the Foundation’s websites, including the OOB Archive and the New York Innovative Theatre Awards sites.

Design is focused on media-rich, “responsive” web principles Development is basedon PHP/MYSQL, with HTML5 and CSS3. System driven via web, database, email and mobile interaction.

Previous PHP experience is required. Previous experience in responsive web development or advanced web-database integration a plus.

ARCHIVE MANAGEMENT – Assist in the capture, cataloguing, and documentation of artifacts from Off-Off-Broadway artists and productions for the Innovative Theatre Foundation’s groundbreaking online archive.

Help preserve important historical items and enable discovery and sharing of this community’s rich history. Includes work with current OOB artists and companies, some of whom helped start the OOB movement.

Internet research skills and access to web and email required. Ideal candidates are organized, self-motivators with an interest in theatre history, and a genuine enthusiasm for the New York Independent Theater / Off-Off-Broadway community.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH – (October – March) Act as ambassadors to Off-Off-Broadway artists, and liaisons between the Foundation and our target service recipients. Contact New York City independent theater makers to encourage their participation in the Foundation’s programs.

Ideal for candidates interested in a New York City performing arts administration career. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must. Previous office experience is a plus. Site work at Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens theatres may be required up to once a week.

The ideal candidate would be friendly and outgoing, with reliable access to phone, email, and internet, and familiarity with the subway system; must have a genuine enthusiasm for the New York Independent Theater / Off-Off-Broadway community.

Production Internships
PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT – Work directly with the Company Manager and department captains during pre-production, rehearsal, tech, and performance for our high-profile special events.

Assist in all areas of production, including: schedules, budget, communications with technical and artistic departments, venue, talent management, front of house, and run crews.

Production skills and previous theatre / tech experience required. Should be flexible and willing to assist in all areas as needed and must be able to work well under pressure. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and computer skills required.

VIDEO / DIGITAL MEDIA – Assist in end-to-end production of professional video projects, including organizing gear, operating cameras, managing webcast streams, editing new and archived video, and output and posting to the web.

Video production is a critical function at each of our major events, and for the Foundation’s webcasting clients throughout the NYC arts community.

Candidates should have working knowledge of video equipment, editing software, and/or broadcast or webcast production experience. A genuine enthusiasm for the New York Independent Theater / Off-Off-Broadway community is ideal.
